Speranza
It's time for a revolution.
In 1848 an article penned by the anonymous "Speranza" called for an armed Irish insurrection against England. Speranza rocketed to fame, but the revolution died a pathetic death in a cabbage patch. When the smoke cleared, Speranza began a new life as Jane Wilde, a wife, socialite, early women's rights activist, and mother, including to her more-famous son Oscar.
*
Based on her real life, this play follows Jane Wilde through three momentous court trials that shape her career and her character.
*
In times of great change and turmoil, who are our heroes, and who is forgotten by the long roll of history?
